Child Safe Statement

DMS Assisted Transport (a service of MJ Links Group Pty Ltd) is fully committed to providing safe,
supportive and respectful environments for all children and young people who interact with our
services. We take our responsibility seriously and uphold the highest standards of child safety,
wellbeing and inclusion.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

All children and young people have the right to feel safe, be safe, and have their voices heard.
DMS maintains a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse, harm, neglect or exploitation.

Our commitment is grounded in the principles and expectations outlined in our
Child Safety Policy and related procedures. This includes:

  • Protecting children and young people from all forms of abuse, harm and neglect
  • Providing culturally safe, inclusive and welcoming environments
  • Ensuring child safety is prioritised in all decision-making and organisational practices
  • Responding promptly and appropriately to concerns, disclosures or allegations
  • Maintaining policies, processes and staff capabilities that uphold child safety

Safe, Inclusive & Respectful Environments

DMS values diversity and is committed to ensuring that all children and young people feel respected,
understood and protected. We actively promote safe participation for:

  • First Nations children and young people
  • Children and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Children and young people living with a disability
  • LGBTQI+ children and young people
  • Children and young people living away from home or in alternative care

Our People

All DMS representatives — including employees, contractors, volunteers and partners —
are required to uphold the highest standards of behaviour and child safety practice. This includes:

  • Adhering to our Child Safety Policy and Child Safety Code of Conduct
  • Maintaining up-to-date Working With Children Checks (WWCC) where required
  • Completing ongoing training and education in child safety and best practice
  • Actively identifying, mitigating and reporting risks to child safety
  • Ensuring children and young people are consulted and empowered in matters that affect them

Recognising & Responding to Concerns

DMS is committed to proactively identifying and appropriately responding to all concerns, allegations
or incidents involving children and young people. Our representatives are trained to:

  • Recognise indicators of abuse, harm or neglect
  • Respond sensitively and respectfully to disclosures
  • Report concerns immediately via internal and external pathways
  • Cooperate with authorities and investigators as required by law

We support children, young people and families throughout any process and ensure that safety,
confidentiality and wellbeing remain the priority.

Child-Friendly Engagement

We actively encourage children and young people to share their views, participate in decision-making
and express concerns safely. DMS supports their rights by:

  • Providing clear and accessible ways to raise concerns
  • Offering child-friendly resources and communication pathways
  • Ensuring our programs and services are inclusive and empowering
  • Engaging with families, carers and community partners to strengthen safety

Continuous Improvement

DMS regularly reviews its child safety practices, policies and training. We consult with children,
young people, experts and stakeholders to continually improve our approach to safeguarding and
wellbeing.

Our Child Safety Policy is reviewed at least every three years and updated as required by
legislation and best-practice standards.
